For most people, getting ready for their wedding is stressful, but for Mac and Archie it’s more like a nightmare. While most people are fighting off wedding day jitters, Mac, his soon to be mother in law and his friend/groomsman Joshua are fighting off a hit squad that has been sent to kill them. With the wedding just a few days away our characters are left racing against time to find out who is behind the hit and why so that Mac can meet Archie at the alter for what is expected to be the social event of the year.
This is the second book by Lauren Carr that I have read and I have to say that I am becoming quite the fan. Because this is book 9 in the Mac Faraday series I was slightly worried that I would have a hard time following along, but that wasn’t an issue at all. Even for a late starter in the series it easy to keep up with the characters and I love that Lauren includes what is best described as an opening credits for the characters that also includes a short biography for each individual.
She has a great writing style that flows well and does a wonderful job at keeping you guessing and she certainly knows how to play up the suspense. While some situations were a bit unbelievable, there were so many twists and turns that it was impossible to get bored and I found myself consumed by the story line and couldn’t bring myself to put it down.
I am not usually one to be sucked into a murder mystery novel, let alone one military based, but after the first chapter I couldn’t put it down. Lauren Carr has a way of roping you in and immersing you in the story.
There were so many twists and turns in the plot that just as I thought I had it figured out, a new detail would emerge causing me to rethink my whole theory. This is definitely a book that will have you putting on your detective hats!
The characters were well developed and I especially found myself invested in Izzy, although I did feel as though her emotional turmoil was significantly downplayed and would have been much greater for a child whose mother was murdered. I did really love the family dynamics aspects and how it played a large part in the story line.
If your in the mood for a thrilling mystery, that will keep you guessing, I highly suggest you pick up a copy of Kill & Run. You won't be dissapointed!
Most of us dream of winning the lottery, but for financial adviser Lola it no longer just a dream it’s a reality that has just sent her life into a whirlwind.
Rosanna Rae was able to bring the characters to life and make you feel as if you knew them personally. Lola is an easy character to relate to and like most women she is just trying to navigate through her daily life, work and relationships the best she can. But after her big lotto win abruptly changes her whole life she is forced to rethink life as she knew it and reinvent herself. Bringing her mother along for the ride we get to follow along as both women try to find themselves and get the hang of their new lives while facing an unexpected turn of events.
If you’re looking for a fun read that will keep you on your toes this is it.
